Get in early with our Christmas / New Year check-list
By Dennis Rutzou

The Christmas / New Year period is often a quiet time of year for many businesses, with most Aussies more interested in the beach and the BBQ than anything else!

This down-time is a great chance to take stock and start planning for the year ahead, so you hit the ground running when things get back to their normal hectic pace.

Some suggestions for areas you may want to look at are:

  • Website – is it up to date? Is there a news section? Do we need new photos or some new copy?
  • Brochures, flyers, newsletters, etc – are they up to date? Do we have enough? Are they in need of a revamp? When’s the next issue of the newsletter?
  • Calendar of events – what are the key dates for 2006? When will we need to start planning for the big events?
  • Crisis plan – do we have one? If so, where is it?! Is it up to date? Is it simple and practical to put in place?
  • Media coverage – are we still telling the market what we’re doing over this period? This is important, because even though the media is quiet at this time of year, this doesn’t mean there aren’t opportunities!

If you’ve got all of the above covered by the end of January, you’ve set a solid foundation for a great 2006! And don’t forget, these are all areas where DRPR can play an active and valuable role.
