Forster Anaconda Adventure Race Results
Melbourne adventure racing athlete Jarad Kohlar took the gold at the weekend's Anaconda Adventure Race in Forster.

Kohlar lined up with over 400 competitors for the Anaconda Adventure Race which kicked off at Main Beach on Saturday, 30 August.

The Forster race ran over two days and included ocean swimming, ocean kayaking, mountain biking as well as running.

Kohlar finished in an overall time of 8 hours, 44 minutes and 2 seconds in front of former surf ironman Guy Andrews and Ben Allen from Wollongong.

Sydney-based athlete Christie Sym took the women's title for a second year in a row finishing in 10 hours, 24 minutes and 27 seconds. She was followed by national adventure racers Deanna Blegg from Melbourne and Wendy Wilson from Torquay, Victoria.

In the teams category, Queenslanders from Team Epic Kayaks maintained their lead through the race to cross the finish line after 8 hours, 5 minutes and 5 seconds.

In addition to the main race, the Kids Junior Spirit, held at Forster Main Beach on Saturday, 30 August, attracted over 500 children aged between seven and 13 years old.

The next round of the 2008 Anaconda Adventure Race National Series will be held in Geographe Bay, WA, on Sunday, 2 November, before concluding in Lorne, Victoria on 7 December.

Adventure racing, a combination of off-road triathlon and surf life saving, has emerged as the big brother to marathons, road races and triathlons, and has seen a significant increase in popularity all around the world over the past 10 years.

Outdoor adventure retailer Anaconda is the principal sponsor of the race series which is run by Rapid Ascent headed up by former world champion kayaker John Jacoby who has won many adventure races around the world. Anaconda currently has 12 stores with expansion plans throughout Australia in the near future.
