MEDIA RELEASE 02 June 2008

Come celebrate Anaconda Joondalup's 1st Year Anniversary
Outdoor adventure retailer Anaconda will celebrate the first year anniversary of its Joondalup store on Saturday, 7 June with in-store giveaways, special offers and entertainment for the whole family.

The outdoor adventure store will be open from 9 am to 5 pm and feature free face painting, a giant Anaconda birthday cake, free pinnacle rock climbs, a barbeque for all the family and much more.

The first 100 visitors will receive a free bag full of Anaconda goodies and a copy of Outer Edge magazine. Anaconda will also be offering in-store birthday specials including 40 per cent off Spinifex tents, 15 per cent off Emotion Kayaks, a free Fluid helmet with every bike purchase and a free Mojiko nylon line with every rod and reel combo purchased.

Store Manager Scott Leahy said he is excited about putting together the celebrations as the local community has been very supportive of the store in its first year of operations.

"The local community has really embraced our concept. The store has experienced a strong customer flow from day one and we now have over 14, 000 VIP members," Scott said.

"We enjoy serving the Joondalup community and we have received highly positive feedback from community members on the setup of the store and the quality of our staff.

"At Anaconda, we pride ourselves on inspiring, equipping and enabling people to get outdoors and experience their own adventure. We also want people to be entertained and have fun while they are shopping in our store and we hope to continue this in the future," Scott added.

Following the company's philosophy of 'having fun', Scott said all staff will be coming in fancy dress to celebrate the event.

The Joondalup store has pieces of equipment such as climbing gear, tents, gas lanterns and stoves that can all be tested in-store. A climbing pinnacle for indoor rock-climbing also gives the customers a feel of the 'real experience'.

The store, located at 6 'The Gateway' , Edgewater, offers over 35,000 products for camping, fishing, climbing, cycling and kayaking from such famous brands as The North Face, Columbia, Merrell, Garmin, Kona, Edelrid as well as Spinifex, Denali, Mojiko Tactical, Canyon, Dune and Fluid and others. For customers who haven't decided to invest in the equipment and want to trial it first, Anaconda not only sells products but also rents a range of them out.

Anaconda was founded in November 2004 by Toby Darvall, after selling his share in a camping & army surplus wholesale business he co-founded 13 years previously. He had formerly been a business reporter at Melbourne's popular daily, The Age.

Anaconda currently has 11 stores - one in NSW, four in Queensland, two in Victoria, two in WA, one in SA and one in Tasmania with expansion plans throughout Australia in the near future.
