New entrant to revitalise the insurance market
New entrant, ‘Real Insurance’, which is being launched today through a major
sponsorship deal with the South Sydney Rabbitohs, is set to revitalise the
Australian insurance market with a new approach to home and contents and life
insurance policies.
Real Insurance, which will be marketed directly to consumers, is expected to
launch the details of its new policies in the coming weeks.
Real Insurance Managing Director Richard Enthoven said that extensive research
they had undertaken had clearly shown that many consumers are unhappy with what
they get out of their general insurance policies.
“We looked at the products in the market, and came to the conclusion that
consumers are confused by the terms of their cover, and find many details in
their policy irrelevant. Our new policy platforms will recognise the need for
greater simplicity, real benefits, and the need for a better return on the
premium.
“Our premiums for both home and contents and life cover are already extremely
competitive, but we’ve developed ‘Real Insurance’ so that we can offer consumers
a clear point of difference that they won’t get anywhere else.
“Our goal is to become a major force in the Australian insurance industry,” said
Mr Enthoven.
The ‘Real Insurance brand’ is being launched on the market today through the
announcement of the company’s major sponsorship deal with the NRL’s South Sydney
Rabbitohs.
As a result, the famous rugby league team will be called the ‘Real Rabbitohs’.
Rabbitohs CEO Shane Richardson said that the club was very happy to have Real
Insurance on board as their major sponsor.
“We have been working very hard for the past few months to try and secure the
support of a company like Real Insurance and with their backing we believe we
can continue our stated evolutionary path towards consistent on-field success,”
he said.
Although Real Insurance is a new name in the industry, it is not new to
Australia. Real Insurance is underwritten by The Hollard Insurance Company, who
has been licenced by the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority since 2000.
Hollard is part of the international Hollard Insurance Group and already insures
more than 150,000 policyholders in Australia across several insurance lines, and
more than five million policy holders worldwide.
