Women need to wake up and realise that a man is not a financial plan
Why is it that women are so reluctant to take control of their own financial planning says financial planning expert Sunshine Estivo. "I've been working in this industry for ten years and find that women are really reluctant to talk about money and don't plan for their financial future.

"I bought my first investment property when I was 23 and my investment portfolio has grown from there. I was however very unusual partly because of my age, but also for my gender.

"So while many of my friends were waiting for Prince Charming to come along I was planning my own financial future," said Estivo.

"The fact is that women can generally expect to live longer than men and yet most have less superannuation or investments for retirement than their male counterparts. It's really tragic that, of all the elderly people living in poverty, three out of four are women and 80 per cent of the women were not poor when their husbands were alive.

"That's why I focus on working with women long before they reach pre-retirement because it's generally too late to do anything significant about it by then. So I focus on wealth accumulators in their 30s and 40s.

"We're holding a seminar aptly titled 'A man is not a financial plan' that will teach women how to identify the keys to wealth creation and guide them towards financial independence," she added.

The evening seminar will provide women with the information they need to start their own financial plan, for themselves and for their families as well as empower them to be independent and financially savvy.

Financial Empowerment Coach Linda Coates is the presenter and is passionate about encouraging others, particularly women, to take a proactive approach to maintaining their wellbeing - financially, physically, mentally and spiritually.
