Custom fit-out for PaperlinX stays smooth
When PaperlinX consolidated its Scoresby and Preston paper merchanting sites in Melbourne, the company called on Corporate Express for specialist expertise in providing a smooth, custom fit-out.

PaperlinX undertook an ambitious project to bring together its Spicers Paper and Dalton Paper businesses under one roof in a warehouse and office complex. The first step was to actually expand the building from a 16,500 square metre warehouse to a massive 21,800 square metres, and to expand the office space to 2,500 square metres to accommodate around 140 people.

PaperlinX spoke with three potential suppliers and settled on Corporate Express because it could meet the requirements and fit the budget. PaperlinX is a major supplier of paper to Corporate Express.

PaperlinX' Site Facility Manager, Rod Taylor said, "It was a very large project and involved many different suppliers. Corporate Express worked well with our other contractors including the team of electricians and cable layers and completed the installation of the partitions and workstations within the tight deadline.

"When we briefed them initially, we already had the overall layout for the office but Corporate Express provided some valuable input with specialist areas like printing stations. They were even able to supply custom-built cupboards for the purpose-built areas.

"Unlike many office fit-outs we weren't working with an empty space so we didn't have the luxury of time. We were refitting and expanding our existing premises so we had to shuffle staff around and make sure that our productivity wasn't compromised. Therefore we needed an office fit-out supplier who could work with our other contractors in a fairly tight timeframe," Site Facility Manager, Rod Taylor said.

The main focus of PaperlinX operations in Australia is on manufacturing and distributing high quality paper used as office paper, plus specialty paper used by printers for brochures, magazines, annual reports and other business documents.

Corporate Express provides fully integrated furniture systems to allow for flexibility and growth covering everything from basic commodity furniture through to specialist, custom-built systems.

The extensive range of furniture covers all levels of budget and design. Products are manufactured to the highest quality and tested to Australasian Furnishing Research & Development Institute standards.
