Sydney's greenest office furniture showroom opens
Corporate Express, one of the largest office furniture suppliers in Australia, opened their new green office furniture showroom at 15-19 Bent St, Sydney today.

The Corporate Express showroom demonstrates some of the very latest sustainable office finishes from the best architectural suppliers in flooring, wall treatments, textiles, modular carpet, seating, workstation systems and storage solutions.

Unique design finishes highlight how businesses can provide the ultimate green workspace for their staff using products such as NMP Pearl Effects flooring, Laminex E Zero board, Oikos wall finishing, Ontera carpet and the Corporate Express exclusive range of EXP furniture.

The Corporate Express EXP range of task seating and the ENVIROdesk will be on display. Both are accredited and rated as environmentally-friendly by Ecospecifier.

Other suppliers include NMP, Ontera Modular Carpets, Instyle fabrics, Oikos and Laminex.

David Baggs, Principal Consultant and Technical Director of Ecospecifier opened the showroom and highlighted the latest green trends in furniture and fit outs.

“There is a very rapid uptake of building sustainability within the major building industry, driven largely by the big financial services sector and by the ethical investment market – one of the fastest growing financial sectors in the country,” Baggs said.

“Building owners are moving quickly to ensure that their buildings are Green Star rated so they can include their building assets in their ethical investment portfolio.

“The Green Star rating is the building sustainability rating system from the Green Building Council of Australia. Recently the Property Council of Australia mandated the Green Star rating as part of their building grading system.

“There is a number of building sustainability rating schemes in the commercial and residential sector that are driving the uptake of sustainability. As a result of these schemes, there is a growing awareness of the link between OH&S and increases in productivity due to improved indoor environment quality by using healthier products,” he said.

Baggs looked at several case studies of leading products and talked about the future directions for interior product design.

The Corporate Express showroom is at 15-19 Bent St, Mezzanine Level (entry cnr of Bent and Bligh Sts).

David Baggs B.Arch (Hons), FRAIA , CA, ABSA, MRSAS is an award-winning chartered architect, building sustainability assessor and eco-product and energy-efficiency consultant with 27 years experience and Managing Director of multidiscipline ESD consultancy Natural Integrated Living Pty Ltd.
