MEDIA RELEASE 8 January 2007

Waterless car washing creates an outstanding franchise opportunity for locals
With level three water restrictions being enforced this year, a waterless car washing and detailing service is offering a unique and timely franchise opportunity for Adelaide residents looking for a career change and a way to help Australia’s thirsty climate.

Currently, local car owners are restricted to using watering cans or buckets to wash their cars, or hand-held hoses with a trigger nozzle before 8am or after 8pm, or visiting a car wash that uses water.

Ecowash Mobile offers an environmentally-friendly car wash alternative and is looking for franchisees in Adelaide. Ecowash Mobile uses an innovative technique to provide a 2-in-1 wash and polish using biodegradable cleaning products, making it completely eco-friendly and water free.

Jim Cornish and Stewart Nicholls, both former race and rally drivers, established the Australian waterless mobile service in March 2004. Ecowash Mobile now has 32 franchisees in five states across Australia, washing around seven cars a day which equates to a saving of about 201,600 litres of water a week*. The business has also taken off overseas with franchises established in Saudi Arabia and negotiations currently being made with Bahrain and France.

"The business is successful because we offer a professional, convenient and high quality service. Being waterless opens the doors to opportunities that would not be there using traditional car washing methods," Nicholls said.

Ecowash Mobile was the winner of the 2006 Small Business Awards Champion of Champions (Automotive Services category) and the 2005 NSW/ACT Australia Post Small Business Award (Getting Started category). In March 2006, Ecowash Mobile was also awarded the ‘Smart Approved Watermark’, the nation’s reference for choosing products, services and organisations that are reducing outdoor water use.

"Our franchisees have a strong support system, an effective brand and the accessibility of a complete ‘business in a car’. Our branding is very strong. People recognise the bright orange cars and the uniforms all our franchisees wear," Cornish said.

New franchisees receive two weeks of intensive training along with a comprehensive operations manual and once on board have access to continued business contact, regular counselling meetings, field visits and national marketing.

Ann and Neil Bauer, Ecowash Mobile franchisees for Wide Bay, QLD, have been with Ecowash Mobile since April last year.

"What really impressed us is how Stewart and Jim, the directors, are looking ahead to the future. It’s important as the business keeps growing," Neil said.

"They have a very professional approach and provide a lot of support for franchisees," Ann said.

Locals interested in becoming franchisees should contact Ecowash Mobile by visiting the website www.ecowash.com.au or by calling 1 800 ECOWASH (1 800 326967).

The Ecowash exclusive product range includes a polymer compound which is sprayed onto the car exterior. It encapsulates surface dirt that is then removed with a soft cloth, leaving behind a protective coating to guard against the elements and harmful effects of wear and tear.

The complete range of products enables a full detail inside and out including leather treatment, bumper renovation and scratch removal. To ensure long lasting protection of your car, Ecowash Mobile has also just introduced new protection options for paint, fabric and carpet or leather.

A variety of services are on offer, from a basic waterless wash and polish right through to a full detail, to suit individual car owners, car dealers, smash repairers and corporate fleets.

* The traditional hose method of washing a car uses 180 litres of water per wash (Sydney Water)
