MEDIA RELEASE – PGA Magazine 9 May 2006
The no-water, no-maintenance putting green
will be at the 2006 PGA Golf Show
Pro-tech, the Australian company behind the popular no-water, no-maintenance
synthetic putting greens, will be at the 2006 PGA Golf Show.
Pro-tech was founded in 2003 and introduced its high quality putting green
technology to Australia under a licence agreement with a leading US company.
The putting greens are part of the Pro-tech range and are unique as they perform
like a true championship green without the required maintenance of natural grass
greens. The technology used by Pro-tech is endorsed by many of the world’s
leading golfers including Australians Peter O'Malley, Nick O'Hern and Wayne
Grady who have had Pro-tech greens installed at their homes for personal
“The great thing about the Pro-tech green is that it plays as true as any green
we play on around the world, and it requires next to no maintenance or watering
to keep it in this condition,” said O’Malley.
The same high quality synthetic green was recently installed on the rooftop of
the Sydney home of former Prime Minister Bob Hawke.
“Since I've had the Pro-tech putting green on the roof, it's been marvellous fun
and it's certainly improved my putting,” Mr Hawke said.
Pro-tech putting greens can be installed indoor or outdoor in residential
backyards, at corporate offices, apartment developments, resorts, hotels and
motels, or indeed for non-championship golf courses and driving ranges.
Pro-tech has also developed the unique Eco Logical Lawn based on European
technology which uses the process of ‘fibrillation’ to split the fibres and give
the lawn a grass-like look and feel.
A water capturing system, which Pro-tech has recently developed and patented,
can be installed beneath the Eco Logical Lawn. It makes the collection of fresh
rain water easy with the help of a sub-turf membrane which collects the water
and stores it in a subterranean water tank. The water in the modular tank, which
can sit beneath or adjacent to the lawn, can then be pumped to a garden tap.
