PaQS wins award for 'Excellence in Safety'
Hunter-based training and coaching organisation People & Quality Solutions (PaQS) won the 2011 Hunter Business Award for 'Excellence in Safety' presented at a gala dinner on Friday, 5 August. The gala dinner at Wests New Lambton was attended by more than 500 business people including representatives of finalists in awards.

The Excellence in Safety Award recognises innovation in work health and safety and by winning this category PaQS now has the opportunity to enter into the 2011 WorkCover NSW Safe Work Award.

PaQS demonstrated its excellence in safety with their recently initiated 'Home-Based Work Agreement' explained Carl Reams, PaQS' Managing Director and Senior Psychologist.

"PaQS as a flexible employer realised that it had a duty of care to provide a safe and secure environment for its workers who work from a home. So we developed this initiative to ensure that our employees working from home not only see PaQS as fulfilling its legal and duty of care obligations, but also that we are playing a leadership role in work health and safety and ensuring safety and security in the workplace are a priority.

"At PaQS we strive to continue to develop our safety culture by leading from the top, where our actions and attitudes send to our workers a clear message that we are serious about the safety, security and wellbeing of our workers," said Reams.

PaQS was a finalist along with 39 other organisations in eight different categories. Hunter Business Chamber President, Brett Derwin, said that the finalists represented a cross section of the region's diverse business community and judges had commended in all categories on the outstanding achievement of finalists.

"The clear message is that this region has business leaders in every sector who can ensure our community continues to prosper," Mr Derwin said.

PaQS (People and Quality Solutions) is a training and coaching organisation that specialises in safety culture with a focus on personal responsibility. Their programs aim to make constructive attitude and behavioural change by providing organisations with self-managing safety culture and leadership coaching.
