MEDIA RELEASE 09 December 2011

BPA - the difference between a good or bad bottle for your baby
The chemical Bisphenol A (BPA) has been widely used in plastic containers including in many brands of baby bottles and sippy cups. The chemical, which leaches into the containers' contents when heated, has been shown to be linked to health risks related to infertility, neural and behavioural development in foetuses, infants and children, breast and prostate cancer and many more.

Despite other countries banning the use of the chemical in baby bottles, the Australian Government only announced a voluntary phasing out of BPA baby bottles by major retailers in mid 2010.

Luckily, companies like Klean Kanteen have decided to take matters into their own hands…

Our Aussie bubs can now drink from healthy, toxin-free (BPA-free) and environmentally-friendly stainless steel bottles, following the introduction of Klean Kanteen's new 5oz (148ml) and 9oz (266ml) Kid Kanteen baby bottles.

Klean Kanteen, the first producer of BPA-free stainless steel hydration bottles, has been campaigning for a healthier world since day one, and can now boast a complete range of bottles for babies, children and adults alike, from the Kid Kanteen sippy cap right through to 1893ml.

Whether you breastfeed, use formula or choose a combination of both, Kid Kanteen baby bottles are the healthy alternative. The toxin-free bottles allow natural-paced, relaxed feeding and promote proper digestion and development.

Other features of the new Kid Kanteen baby bottles include:

  • Made of high quality, 18/8 food-grade stainless steel
  • Cap is BPA-free polypropylene
  • Contoured hourglass bottle designed for little hands
  • Embossed and laser-etched marks show ounces and millilitres inside and outside of the bottle
  • Wide-mouth opening for easy filling, pouring and cleaning
  • Nipple design promotes proper oral development and healthy teeth
  • Double-venting system reduces nipple collapse and colic
  • Nipple flow rates (available in slow, medium or fast) promote natural-paced and relaxed feedings
  • Wide base and nipple shape encourages proper latch
  • Dishwasher safe
  • Reusable and 100% recyclable

The Kid Kanteen baby bottles are available throughout Australia in Chalet Kiosks.

Sustainability has always been at the heart of the Klean Kanteen brand, driving decisions, innovations and production. As a member of 1% for the Planet, Klean Kanteen donates one per cent of its annual sales to drive positive environmental change.
