Kambora Public School signs up to save the environment
Kambora Public School students have joined a state-wide program to help save
the environment and raise money for their school.
The students participated in the ‘Bright Kids Schools’ program, designed by Easy
Being Green, a group focused on helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Under the program, students sign up households for a complete home installation
of energy saving light globes and water saving showerheads free of charge.
As well as helping the environment, the school will receive $5 donation from
Easy Being Green for every household that undergoes a verified home
Through the verified home-installation process, Easy Being Green provides energy
efficient light globes for every suitable light socket in the home and
showerheads for all showers free of charge.
By installing the equivalent of six globes and one showerhead, households save
about one tonne of greenhouse gas pollution from entering earth’s atmosphere and
an average of 21,000 litres of water each year. Once installed, householders can
also save $150 a year off their combined electricity and water bills.
The installation program is part of Easy Being Green’s campaign to reach one
million homes in NSW and ACT by mid-2007 and reduce greenhouse gasses
contributing to global warming.
CEO at Easy Being Green, Paul Gilding, said the program is part of a wider
campaign to help the environment and raise money for local schools.
“The program is designed to encourage schools and students to be champions of
the environment through practical action. We aim to keep helping students and
educate them on ways to save water and energy while raising enough money to make
a real difference to their school. So far, a total of 155 schools in NSW have
joined Easy Being Green’s campaign,” Gilding said.
To book an installation free of charge, sign up with a Kambora Public School
student or call Easy Being Green on 1300 789 324 and mention ‘Kambora Public
School’ to ensure your local school receives a $5 donation. Local installations
will commence on 22 November.
Easy Being Green also gives Australians the opportunity to become Carbon Neutral
and reduce the emissions of carbon in the atmosphere.
