MEDIA RELEASE 12 March 2008
Light anytime, anywhere from Anaconda
The new Spinifex Dynamo lanterns from outdoor adventure retailer Anaconda can be
charged by winding a handle or by charging them before you leave home.
The portable lanterns that run on the energy-saving LED lights come in two
strengths – 15 or 24 LED. They also include a hook or can sit on a flat surface.
Both models can be charged by winding a handle or by plugging it in to mains
power before you leave home or with batteries. Once wound for a minute the
lantern provides up to 20 minutes of light and if charged using mains power or
batteries the lantern will last for five hours, making it a reliable light
source for around the campsite, on the fishing boat or around the BBQ in the
backyard.
Available from Anaconda stores nationally the lanterns are $49.97 for the 15 LED
model and $79.97 for the 24 LED model.
Anaconda was founded in November 2004 by Toby Darvall, after selling his share
in a camping and army surplus wholesale business he co-founded 13 years
previously. He had formerly been a business reporter at Melbourne's popular
daily, The Age.
Anaconda currently has ten stores – one in NSW, four in Queensland, two in
Victoria, two in WA and one in SA, with expansion plans throughout Australia in
the near future.
