Local businesses raise funds for cardiac research
Local businesses are inviting local residents to join them in raising funds
for the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute on Saturday, 24 March.
Local waterless car washing and detailing franchise Ecowash Mobile and MRT
Performance are participating in the NRMA Great Battery Round Up, to be held at
MRT Performance, 1 Averill St, Rhodes from 9am to 2pm. For every old battery
collected by MRT Performance, NRMA will donate $2 to the Victor Chang Cardiac
Sue Taylor and Elia Napiza, owners of the Ecowash Mobile Sydney Central
franchise, will also be donating $5 for every Ecowash done on the day.
“It is fantastic to see that local businesses are coming together for two good
causes – cardiac research and the environment. We are proud to be involved and
we really hope that the local community actively participates in the event,” Sue
Brett Middleton, owner of MRT Performance, says it is important to get involved
and support the community.
“Cardiac research is a great cause to support and by collecting old batteries,
we help minimise the damage they can have on the environment,” he said.
“During the day, our mechanics will do various demonstrations such as how to
change tyres, how we tune cars, as well as give any technical assistance local
car owners may need,” Brett said.
The charity day will include raffle tickets drawn every half hour such as an
Ecowash Mobile voucher, magazine subscriptions, gift vouchers and more. A free
sausage sizzle and drinks will also be provided. All profits from donations will
go to the Research Institute.
The Sydney based institute was founded by pioneering cardiothoracic surgeon and
humanitarian Dr Victor Chang in 1994 and has since been committed to undertaking
research into heart disease and providing cardiovascular research training.
Ecowash Mobile was established in Sydney in 2004 and has grown to 32 franchises
and expanded overseas to Saudi Arabia and Europe.
The Ecowash Mobile 2-in-1 biodegradable wash and polish compound is sprayed onto
the car exterior, encapsulates surface dirt that is then removed with a soft
cloth and provides a protective coating. The whole process of an Ecowash is
guaranteed not to scratch and lasts for four to six weeks.
