BBX gives support to FSHD Global Research Foundation golf tournament
Trade exchange BBX has recently added its support to the Australian not-for-profit organisation FSHD Global Research Foundation that is dedicated to finding a treatment and cure for a form of muscular dystrophy called Facio-Scapulo-Humeral Dystrophy (FSHD).

As part of its fundraising, the Foundation is holding a series of golf days at the Killara Golf Course in Sydney. To date, the tournament has raised $50,000 and 100 per cent of this will go towards medical research for FSHD, with two more golf days planned for 27 August and 24 September.

"It is encouraging to see that businesses like BBX have a desire to support the FSHD Global Research Foundation's journey to find a cure or treatment for FSHD," said Foundation founder and former Macquarie Bank executive director, Bill Moss AM .

As a supporter of the Foundation, BBX has provided a number of prizes and auction items to assist in the fundraising. Rick Powell, marketing manager for BBX was master of ceremonies at the most recent golf day on 27 July.

"It was a great day for everyone involved. We had some high profile participants, like Steve Waugh, come out and enjoy a great day of golf for the fantastic cause," said Powell.

FSHD is the second most common form of muscular dystrophy in adults and the third most common genetic hereditary disease seen in skeletal muscle. The FSHD Global Research Foundation invests 100 per cent of all public donations into research projects aimed at finding a cure or treatment for FSHD.

BBX is a business-to-business trade exchange that facilitates cashless trading of goods and services between members. The exchange uses BBX dollars, a currency unit with an equivalent value to Australian currency, to assign value to the transactions that take place between member businesses. In essence, the exchange acts as the third party record keeper, similar to a bank, and provides a sophisticated market where thousands of transactions take place on a cashless basis.
