Waterless wash for new Sonata launch cars
Needing a premium quality car wash and detail for 47 new, pre-launch Sonata sedans in water-restricted Sydney then again in Hobart a few days later, Hyundai turned to Ecowash Mobile’s waterless service for the project.

Waterless wash for new Sonata launch cars

The 47 Sonatas were the new, unreleased NF model being driven from Hyundai’s HQ on Sydney’s Homebush Bay to Hobart via the Melbourne-Devonport ferry by Master Technicians from Hyundai’s national dealer network as part of the cars’ running-in. There the cars were to be test driven by national motoring journalists on June 16 and Hyundai dealers on June 23 in launch drive’n’ride events out of Hobart.

In parched Sydney, the cars needed to be thoroughly cleaned and protected for the drive so Ecowash Mobile’s re-clean job in Hobart before the launch events would be minimized.
Each of the 47 Sonatas were kept in spotless condition using the Premium Ecowash 2-in-1 wash and polish. Using an innovative, waterless technique, the Ecowash approach is not only environmentally friendly, but uses an exclusive product range that includes a polymer compound.

The compound is sprayed onto the car exterior, encapsulating surface dirt which is then removed with a soft cloth, leaving behind a protective coating to guard against the elements and harmful effects of wear and tear.

Windscreens and windows are kept crystal clear using a glass cleaner that also acts as polish for dispersing rain droplets and creating an anti-fog, anti-static shield, as well as being friendly to tinted windows.

Jim Cornish and Stewart Nicholls, Directors of Ecowash Mobile, established the mobile car detailing business in March 2004 and currently operate in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. They expect to have 50 Ecowash service cars—including Hyundai’s Getz small cars with the rear seat removed—operating around Australia by year’s end.

“We started Ecowash Mobile because in the current Australian environment we saw a market for car cleaning without using water. In addition, our approach actually cleans the car better than when using water,” Jim Cornish said.

“Ecowash Mobile products take car washing to the next level because we don’t use water and all our cleaning products are biodegradable and eco-friendly.

“Water-based car washing is also fast becoming a serious concern in the current Australian drought conditions with water authorities in most states banning car washing using a hose, as well as restricting car dealers’ car washing operations,” he said.
