Three new watches released in SEIKO Velatura collection
Seiko has added three new men's watches to its Velatura collection for Spring/Summer 2010.

The Velatura range is designed for high performance on the open ocean and the watches are characterised by their robustness, functions and durability.

The three new additions include the 49er Class alarm chronograph, and two other alarm chronographs on steel bracelets.

The new additions feature a carbon fibre patterned dial, stainless steel case or black hard coating case version with a urethane strap.

As the watches are designed for competitive sailing conditions they also feature, sapphire crystal glass (highly scratch resistant) with anti-reflective coating and are 100 metre water resistant

The three watches are alarm chronographs, which means they are suitable for race timing and include a tachymeter for speed measurement. To ensure that the timing information is clearly visible even when racing, the sapphire crystal face has an anti-reflective coating and the chronograph hands are in a distinctive yellow colour.

The Velatura 49er Class Chronograph
In 2007, SEIKO was selected as the Watch Partner of the International 49er Class Association. The 49er is the fastest boat in the Olympic regatta and provides even the world's very best sailors with a daunting challenge. Capable of speeds in excess of 25 knots and even of sailing faster than the wind itself, the 49er is a fast and fast-growing class that is gaining in popularity all over the world. No less than 62 crews from 26 countries took part in the recent World Championships held in the Bahamas.

To mark the fourth year of SEIKO's partnership with the International 49er Class Association, SEIKO is launching a new model in the Velatura collection, housing the 7T62 Alarm Chronograph calibre. The crown is protected from accidental shock, the case is 100 metre water resistant, the glass is sapphire and the strap is made of a polyurethane compound of great strength..

The case back carries the legend '49er class' and the watch is presented in a special presentation box that contains a message of gratitude from the International 49er Class Association.

Seiko Watch Corporation designs and manufactures three time-piece brands - Seiko, Pulsar and Lorus. Each brand includes an extensive range of men's and women's watches, plus Lorus has a children's range, Seiko and Lorus also have extensive clock ranges.

Unlike many other watch companies, Seiko manufactures only its own product and undertakes research and development on an ongoing basis. The company prides itself on developing innovative products and maintaining a high standard of quality and accuracy.
