MEDIA RELEASE 16 December 2005
Waterless car washer by day, racing car driver by night
Local Northern Beaches resident Sheridan Phillips owns a successful mobile
waterless car washing franchise by day, and rips around the race track as an
Aussie Racing Car driver by night.
Phillips, who just finished second in the Aussie Racing Car Championship ladder,
has been racing for more than 7 years. He began racing go-karts three or four
years ago and switched to Racing Cars two years ago.
As well as being a successful Racing Car driver, Phillips is the Northern
Beaches franchise owner of Ecowash Mobile. Ecowash Mobile is a successful mobile
waterless car washing and detailing company that recently took out the Getting
Started award for the 2005 Australia Post NSW/ACT Small Business Awards earlier
this month.
Phillips said that the key to his success is his passion.
“I have been into cars all my life and always loved watching the motor racing.
As a kid I used to look up to Peter Brock, but now I enjoy watching Valentino
Rossi and Michael Schumacher race.
“I was very happy to place second overall. It came down to the last race which
was held in Tasmania in mid-November and I narrowly missed out (by 6 points) on
placing first.
“Racing is a competitive sport. There were 45 cars in the field so coming second
was a great effort.
“I could see the value in Ecowash Mobile’s waterless car wash because being a
racer, cars are very important to me. I am also conscious of the fact that we
are in a serious drought and need to find alternate methods other than using
water, to keep our cars clean
“The Ecowash also protects the car and the service is convenient for car owners
because we can clean a car anywhere,” said Phillips.
Ecowash Mobile has 18 franchises in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Brisbane
with 22 mobile units on the road and currently washes over 220 cars per day.
This equates to a saving of approximately 290,400 litres of water in a six day
week, according to government body claims that washing one car using a hose uses
220 litres of water per wash.
An Ecowash uses an innovative technique to provide a 2-in-1 wash and polish. The
approach uses an exclusive product range that includes a polymer compound, which
provides a better lubricant than water. The compound is sprayed onto the car
exterior to encapsulate surface dirt that is then removed with a soft cloth,
leaving behind a protective coating to guard against the elements and harmful
effects of wear and tear.
The complete range of products enables a full detail inside and out as well as
offer extras such as leather treatment, bumper renovation and scratch removal.
A variety of services is on offer, from a basic waterless wash and polish right
through to a full detail, called an Extreme Ecowash, to suit individual car
owners, car dealers, smash repairers and corporate fleets.
