MEDIA RELEASE 18 December 2006
Want to be your own boss? BBX launches 'Win a Franchise' competition
One of the world’s largest Trade Exchanges is running a competition to win a
franchise valued at $65,000.
The ASX listed BBX is offering Australia to be a part of the rapidly expanding
BBX network by asking entrants to draft an answer in 1500 words to the following
questions:
- What is your vision for a successful business?
- How would you deliver your business promise?
- What skills can you bring to the BBX network?
- Do you have the time and cash resources to run your own franchise
business?
Mr Rick Powell, Marketing Manager for BBX, said: “Anyone can enter the
competition. The new franchise can be established anywhere in Australia that
doesn’t compromise an existing franchise, and with a BBX Franchise there is a
lot of flexibility”.
“We are looking for people who have the ability to establish and support a busy
franchise,” Mr Powell said.
All entries are to be emailed to David Freeman, General Manager BBX, at davidf@ebbx.com
by 31 December 2006.
BBX successfully listed on the ASX in August 2005 to become the first and only
publicly listed trade exchange in Australasia. Members in Australia and New
Zealand transacted $146 million in trade for the 2006 financial year and the
company is the second largest trade operator in Australia, facilitating the
‘cashless’ trading of goods and services between members.
BBX and its International partners, who operate through master franchises in New
Zealand, India and China, currently have over 300,000 members, potentially
making the group the world’s largest reciprocal trade exchange in membership
terms.
In September, BBX announced a record net profit after tax of $1.080 million.
This represents an increase of $825,000 or 323 percent over the previous year.
The principle of barter, exchanging one article for another without the use of
money, goes back to the dawn of history. BBX allows members to trade goods and
services without using cash or credit but rather trade dollars, to assign the
value to transactions that take place between members of the exchange.
The company also offers a broader range of financial services in areas such as
mortgage broking, insurance, business finance and financial planning through two
new ventures, BBX Financial Advisors and BBX Money.
