MEDIA RELEASE 20 February 2008
Foldable solar panels for remote areas
Outback campers and adventurers can now keep their equipment charged with the
Solaris foldable solar panels from outdoor adventure retailer Anaconda.
The Solaris foldable solar panels are flexible, use CIGS (Copper Indium Gallium
diSelenide) technology and can be used in a large range of weather conditions
including low light. The CIGS technology behind the product gives it high
absorption and the potential to produce significant current outputs while
maximising performance and portability.
The compact solar panels, which can be rolled up or folded, are used for running
and charging battery-powered devices such as mobile phones, PDAs, digital
cameras, MP3 players and so on.
The product is ideal for campers, hikers, boating enthusiasts, four-wheel
drivers or anyone who uses electronics in remote areas.
The Solaris foldable solar panels come in three sizes: 6-watt (73.6cm x 22.9cm x
201 grams), 12-watt (73.6cm x 43.2cm x 312 grams) or 26-watt (54.6cm x 95.25cm x
794 grams). They range from $299 to $899 and are exclusive to Anaconda stores
throughout Australia.
Anaconda also sells a range of Solarflat rigid solar panels which range from
$79.99 to $399.
Anaconda was founded in November 2004 by Toby Darvall, after selling his share
in a camping and army surplus wholesale business he co-founded 13 years
