Former pastor becomes water-conscious entrepreneur
A former pastor has seized an outstanding business opportunity with a waterless car washing franchise to help environmentally-conscious car owners in Maroochydore save water.

Ben Hughes owns and manages the Maroochydore franchise of Ecowash Mobile - a waterless mobile car washing and detailing service which uses a 2-in-1 biodegradable wash and polish that lasts for four to six weeks.

After being pastor at a church in Perth for the past five years, Ben decided it was time for a lifestyle change and started with Ecowash Mobile on 4 June.

"My wife, daughter and I have always wanted to live on the Sunshine Coast and I was looking for a business that would give me the opportunity to stay outdoors and be community minded. My past training has given me a love for people and hearing their stories," Ben said.

"I also wanted to be able to do something that would help people. Water is such a big issue and everyone is concerned about the amount of water they consume, so Ecowash Mobile seemed to be the perfect opportunity," he said.

Ben said the local response has been very positive so far and he has helped many car owners save water.

"People are pretty much saying 'Thank God you're here!' The response has just been so amazing," Ben said.

"Aside from the service being waterless, another advantage for my customers is the convenience of being mobile. I can visit them anywhere – in a carpark, at home, at the office. Also, because an Ecowash doesn't use any water, the ground doesn't get wet and soapy," he said.
