Capture more water with new innovative tanks
In response to the need to conserve our precious water resources, Australian
company New Water has designed an innovative new system using water tanks that
fit under a house or can be built into a slab.
The Rain Reviva system includes bladder style tanks or in-slab tanks, which are
ideal for residents who have limited space or prefer to hide rainwater tanks
away from view under their house or deck.
The unique Rain Reviva system reduces the need for an expensive underground tank
or a more traditional above ground tank.
In addition, Rain Reviva uses the entire surface area of the roof as its
catchment, which means that more rainwater is diverted into the tank, unlike
traditional water tanks that only capture water from one side of the roof.
Rain Reviva bladder-tanks are made of a tough, polymer fabric and come in a
range of sizes from 2,000 litres to 7,000 litres which can be linked to hold up
to 30,000 litres.
The Rain Reviva In-Slab tank is a rigid tank can be incorporated into the
concrete slab of new houses without affecting the integrity of the slab. The
In-Slab tanks work by storing the captured rainwater in a number of
interconnected pods or ‘cells’.
Andrew Pearce CEO of New Water, the manufacturers and installers of Rain Reviva
systems, believes they work far more effectively than traditional tanks.
“Homeowners need to think seriously about how rainwater tanks can make a real
difference, and we believe this is the best and most innovative way to harness
and store rainwater. The fact that the tanks stay out of sight is an obvious
bonus,” Mr Pearce said.
“These new water tanks are proving increasingly popular and can capture water
significantly faster compared to the standard tank system.
“In fact, Rain Reviva bladder tanks can capture up to 30,000 litres of water,
which can make a considerable difference to a household’s mains pressure water
usage,” he said.
“The In-Slab tanks have a 660 litre capacity per unit, although number of units
that can be incorporated into the slab is limited only by the size and type of
slab,” Pearce said.
Prices typically start at around $2,500 for a Rain Reviva system using
bladder-tanks of up to 4,000 litres.
Many homeowners may be eligible for a rebate from their state or local
government.
The company also manufactures and sells a system that recycles household
grey-water, called the Aqua Reviva. The Rain Reviva and Aqua Reviva systems are
sold by New Water throughout the country.
