Plumbers cash up with a green initiative
By joining the new Trades’ Rebate Offer, plumbers throughout NSW can give their business a green twist and competitive edge whilst increasing their income.

Easy Being Green, the Australian company behind the concept, is focused on helping householders and businesses reduce their impact on the environment by saving energy and water.

Easy Being Green is visiting householders door-to-door and offering them the opportunity to install energy efficient light globes and AAA rated water saving showerheads free of charge through a verified home-installation process. With verified installation, Easy Being Green can provide homes with globes for every suitable light socket in the home and showerheads for all showers.

Danielle Lamb, Trades’ Rebate Team Officer at Easy Being Green, said by registering for the Offer, plumbers will have the opportunity to offer customers as part of their regular service the installation of energy saving light globes and water saving showerheads.

“The energy saving light globes and water saving showerheads are not only free of charge to both plumbers and customers, but plumbers will be entitled to a monthly rebate on every installation of energy and water efficient devices.

“Registered tradespeople will receive $20 per water saving showerhead and $1.50 per energy saving light globe installed, in addition to receiving a refund on the cost of the products purchased at the Tradelink stores,” she said.

Paul Gilding, CEO at Easy Being Green and former Executive Director of Greenpeace International, said plumbers now have an easy business opportunity to invest in the future of our earth.

“By installing energy saving light globes and water saving showerheads, plumbers can help householders save greenhouse gas pollution from entering earth’s atmosphere and thousands of litres of water each year. They also help customers save money off their combined annual electricity and water bills,” Gilding said.

“With the installation, each plumber and householder must sign a form to give Easy Being Green the right to trade the value of the greenhouse gas emissions that is saved by having the light globes and the showerheads installed.

“Everybody wins with installation: plumbers give their business a competitive edge while earning extra cash, householders save money by reducing their power bills, the environment benefits and Easy Being Green trades its carbon certificates, which helps to promote reductions in greenhouse gas emissions,” he said.

Easy Being Green is amongst a limited number of organisations that are accredited to trade carbon credits on to energy companies to assist them in meeting mandatory emission targets set by the NSW Greenhouse Gas Abatement Scheme.

In order to meet their targets, energy companies can undertake their own energy efficiency and renewable energy initiatives and can also purchase carbon credits from accredited providers like Easy Being Green.
