MEDIA RELEASE 25 March 2008
The next step in your CFO career
Accounting firm Azure Group offers career Chief Financial Officers (CFOs) the
opportunity to work on a contractor basis either part-time or full-time by
working in an outsourced capacity with a range of clients.
According to Azure Group's CEO and founder Michael Derin, there are many very
experienced CFOs who want more flexible working hours and enjoy the variety of
working with a range of clients instead of one large corporate.
"I started Azure Group six years ago with the idea of offering strategic level
commercial advice to SME clients. The fundamental thing that I identified was
that SMEs rarely get that level of assistance because they can't afford or
attract an experienced full-time CFO normally only afforded by a large corporate
and they can't find it in the consulting world.
"When we first began, the CFO outsourcing idea was not something that anyone
else provided so we started by offering accounting services with a pro-active
approach. Over time we worked with our existing clients to offer CFO-level
advice and have grown from there," Derin said.
"Since then, we have employed a team of CFOs on a full-time and contractual
basis who work with a large range of our clients and we are always looking for
more CFOs to join our network," added Derin.
Jacqueline Butler joined Azure Group in July 2006 and works with seven clients
as their 'acting' CFO.
"My seven clients are all very different including a funds management company
that is planning to list on the ASX, a couple of biotechs, an aviation company,
a legal software client and even an organisation in the film industry," Butler
said.
"The variety of companies and their varying needs keeps me challenged and
interested. I really like to get my hands dirty learning about their business
and providing ongoing strategic advice.
"Each of them has a monthly board meeting usually at Azure's premises and we
look at their forecasts and budgets and identify gaps. Unlike straight
accountancy work, we go beyond just number crunching and look at revenue
streams, capital raising and recommend strategies," added Butler.
"Working with Azure Group is great for me because I'm able to work four days a
week so I have time to spend with my two young children," said Butler.
Jacqueline started her career in London and trained with Arthur Anderson
becoming a Chartered Accountant. She then worked in Latvia and London in a
number of different roles before settling in Australia with her husband and two
young children.
As well as the CFO outsourced service, Azure Group is an experienced chartered
accounting firm that provides ongoing service and handles one-off projects for
clients. It provides its clients with proactive compliance advice to ensure that
a client's tax position is considered throughout the year, not just at tax time.
