Local discount fuel program to rival Coles and Woolworths chain comes to Camden Haven
A new discount fuel program called beepp has been launched in Camden Haven. The program aims to rival the Coles and Woolworths ‘docket discounts’ by giving local retailers and independent fuel outlets a chance to fight back with even cheaper fuel for customers.

The national initiative is different from the Coles and Woolworths programs chiefly because it operates on a cumulative basis.

Wayne Poll, owner of Camden Haven Tyre & Brake Centre and Shell Service Station, which has been in operation 27 years, believes the program gives small businesses an opportunity to compete with national chain stores.

“If we let the big chain stores take over the independents like myself, then once we close down there will be no stopping them as far as prices go. Getting a scheme like this off the ground will definitely help independent retailers and fuel outlets, who will then help to keep prices down for customers,” Poll said.

David Meidling, Area Manager for beepp, says this program is unique because there is no limit on the amount you can save.

“Cents per litre is deceiving because if an average fuel fill is 40 litres, and you get a four cent rebate per litre, that equates to only a $1.60 saving on each fill. A beepp card is worth $1 – it’s like instant cash. If you shop at a retailer participating in the beepp program, you could walk out with five cards. That equates to $5 off your fuel fill,” Meidling said.

“Many independent and smaller family-run businesses have suffered from the larger food chains squeezing them out of the market. The great thing about our program is that it rewards customers with free fuel while supporting local independent retailers,” he said.
Under the program, local participating retail outlets can distribute beepp cards worth $1 each as part of the ongoing reward program with their customers. Customers can then accumulate their vouchers at will and redeem them at participating local fuel outlets to receive a discount on their fuel to the value of the cards presented.
Local fuel outlets participating in the program include: Shell South West Rocks, Mobil Kew, Ampol Kempsey, Caltex South Kempsey, Shell Camden Haven Tyres, Mobil North Haven, Ampol Port Macquarie, Caltex Bridgelord Port Macquarie, Caltex Hastings River Drive Port Macquarie, Bonny View Store Bonny Hills, Co-Op Fuel Ampol Wauchope, Co-Op Fuel Caltex Wauchope.
