Norfolk Jet Express Inaugural Flight to New Zealand
Norfolk Jet Express will commence scheduled services between Norfolk Island and Auckland this Sunday (29 August) with the inaugural flight of its 100-seat Fokker 100 jet aircraft.

The inaugural flight will depart Norfolk Island at 12:25pm and arrive at Auckland International Airport at 2:40pm. The return service will depart from Auckland at 3:20pm and arrive on Norfolk Island at 4:45pm.

Travellers can fly Norfolk Jet Express to Norfolk Island on Sundays or Tuesdays with the flight returning to Auckland on the same day.

David Bobbermen, Chief Operating Officer of Norfolk Jet, said that the inaugural flight represents the beginning of a new era for the airline, which has been flying the Australian route for seven years.

“This flight is something that we have been working towards for a long time and it is good to see that we have finally made it happened.”

David Bobbermen will be on board the inaugural flight, along with Chairman and Chief Executive of Norfolk Jet Express, Greg Prechelt the Administrator of Norfolk Island, the Hon Grant Tambling; Speaker of the Norfolk Island Government and Minister for Tourism and community Services, Hon David Buffet and Chairman of the Norfolk Island Government Tourism Bureau, Mrs Jackie Pye.

Norfolk Jet code shares with Qantas which means that New Zealand travellers heading to Australia can spend a couple of relaxing days on Norfolk Island before flying on to Australia.

Norfolk Jet was granted a full 10 year determination by the Australian International Air Services Commission (IASC) to fly between Australia and New Zealand in June and was recently awarded its International airline licence, making Norfolk Jet Australia’s third full-service international airline.

Norfolk Island is located in the Pacific Ocean between Australia and New Zealand, about 1,600 kilometres northeast of Sydney. Today the Island is best known as a laid back relaxing and welcoming tourist destination with abundant and stunning natural beauty and fascinating historical sights and attractions.
