Local car-lovers saved by waterless car washing
Steve Sunjic is helping time poor and environmentally conscious car owners in Perth keep their cars clean without using water.

Steve owns and manages the East Perth franchise of Ecowash Mobile - a completely waterless mobile car washing and detailing service which uses an innovative technique to provide a 2-in-1 wash and polish that lasts for four to six weeks.

As well as not using water, an Ecowash uses products that are biodegradable, making it completely eco-friendly.

Steve says he’s seen a lot of cleaning products come and go in the 20 years he’s been in the automotive industry.

“I’ve worked as a service adviser and spare parts manager for major car names and I have seen a lot of cleaning products failing to deliver what they promise. It was Ecowash Mobile’s product which really attracted me to becoming a franchisee - I think it just sells itself,” he said.

Steve has been overwhelmed with the response he has received from local residents and businesses.

“The feedback has just been amazing. People are really curious when they hear our service is waterless and they’re interested in finding out more. They’re very happy when they see the results,” he said.

One of Steve’s major clients is commercial building services company Trayd Australia. Operations Manager Troy Griffiths, who hired Steve to wash cars for staff in five major buildings in the Perth CBD, says that Ecowash Mobile is a perfect fit with the organisation’s needs.

“Having a Health, Safety and Environment division within our organisation means we are very familiar with the limitations placed on service providers within commercial buildings and immediately recognised the benefits that Ecowash Mobile could provide,” Troy said.

“The use of water with conventional car detailing created a long list of hazards. These hazards, together with the rising recognition of safety and liability, forced building managers and owners to start banning these car detailing services in the buildings.

“Ecowash Mobile broke the mould, bringing a service back into the city that was fast becoming extinct. Because it’s waterless, it does not impact other building users. The compact size of the setup allows Steve to park alongside the car he is detailing or conveniently park in small areas in buildings. The response from the occupants of the buildings that Steve services has been great,” he said.

Ecowash Mobile East Perth covers East Perth, Perth CBD and West Perth.

The Ecowash exclusive product range includes a polymer compound which is sprayed onto the car exterior. It encapsulates surface dirt that is then removed with a soft cloth, leaving behind a protective coating to guard against the elements and harmful effects of wear and tear. An Ecowash is guaranteed not to scratch.

The complete range of products enables a full detail inside and out including leather treatment, bumper renovation and scratch removal. To ensure long lasting protection of your car, Ecowash Mobile has also just introduced new protection options for paint, fabric and carpet or leather.

A variety of services are on offer, from a basic waterless wash and polish right through to a full detail called an Extreme Ecowash, to suit individual car owners, through to car dealers, smash repairers and corporate fleets.
