I have been in public relations for a long while. I pitched for the first fleet account but there were problems from the outset. The lack of media outlets made it hard to get anything published in London at the time and the Internet hadn’t been invented yet.
So what do I bring to the table at DRPR? Heaps of knowledge of public relations and how it works in a myriad of industries. It is safe to say that there is no industry I haven’t worked in at some stage or other.
My wife says that I have 14 paragraphs of knowledge of just about everything. I have never been beaten at Trivial Pursuit and was tied once, but the game was rigged against me with stupid questions about 90’s rock bands.
I have an enthusiasm for public relations, which I consider to be the best job in the world, which is an opinion I have never waivered from since I started in the business before my 20th birthday.
Outside my work I have a few interests ranging from jazz (I did a weekly jazz radio program for 16 years), good wine (why would you drink any other), tennis, fitness, travel and the Collingwood Football Club (not in that order, as it varies depending on the day and the time of the year).
